Eileen Jaffe Markstein co-founded Markstein, a marketing communications agency in 2003. Today, with offices in Washington, D.C. and Birmingham, Ala., Markstein is one of the largest woman-owned agencies in the southeast and has been named a Birmingham Best Place to Work.
Eileen specializes in corporate communications, crisis management, brand strategy and strategic message development. She oversees all aspects of the firm, which has experienced double digit growth each of the last seven years. Eileen leads a team of almost 40 marketing, public relations and creative professionals for Markstein’s clients, which have included Encompass Health, Walmart, Verizon, Tenet Healthcare, Clayton Homes, Colonial Pipeline, The World Games 2021 Birmingham, the Air Line Pilots Association, Royal Cup Coffee and Tea, and Thompson Tractor Company.
Prior to co-founding Markstein, Eileen was an associate vice president at The ProMarc Agency, a boutique business and technology public relations firm, where she served clients including Vocus and the National Association of Convenience Stores. Before joining ProMarc, Eileen spent three years at Burson Marsteller, where she was in the firm’s healthcare practice working with clients including Pharmacia & Upjohn and Eli Lilly and Company.
Eileen currently serves on the Highlands School Foundation’s Board of Trustees, the Alabama Ballet Board of Trustees and Oasis Counseling for Women & Children. Previously, she served on the Rotary Club of Birmingham Board and Children’s of Alabama’s 2008 Committee for the Future. She was named a Birmingham Business Journal 2013 Top 40 Under 40, was a Women’s Fund 2014 Smart Honoree, a finalist in the Birmingham Business Journal’s 2017 CEO of the Year awards, named a Birmingham Business Journal 2018 Woman to Watch and is a member of the 2019 Leadership Birmingham class. Eileen received her B.A. from James Madison University and her MBA from The George Washington University.
