A proven media and marketing executive, Greg Schumann joined Markstein in 2017 and was appointed Chief Strategy Officer in 2019. Greg specializes in strategic planning, multi-media consulting and brand positioning.
In his role as Chief Strategy Officer, Greg oversees Markstein’s Account Management team, the marketing of the agency and serves on the executive leadership team.
As Vice President at Markstein, Greg developed several new company initiatives and alliances that diversified the company’s account portfolio and led to double-digit revenue growth.
Prior to joining Markstein, Greg enjoyed a twenty-plus year career in advertising and media, where he operated in several executive capacities with Time Inc., ascending to Group President of Time Inc. Sales & Marketing. Previous to his corporate sales and marketing position, Greg oversaw several lifestyle brands, including Southern Living, where he led brand extension initiatives, digital expansion efforts and integrated sales strategies that fueled sustained top and bottom-line growth for the respective brands.
In addition to his tenure at Time Inc., Greg has experience in international publishing, has operated in the business-to-business media space, and has overseen numerous trade shows, conferences and exhibitions. Greg has been a part of several media mergers & acquisitions and possesses a strong breadth of experience in positioning businesses for sale and structuring integration strategies post-sale.
Greg holds a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University, currently serves on an advisory board and guest lectures/moderates at UAB’s Department of Marketing, Industrial Distribution and Economics, while also serving as an advisor to Samford University’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
