With more than 15 years of experience in communications and marketing, and a veteran of the sports and hospitality industries, Jessica Lumsden Black leads Markstein’s sports strategy practice.
Jessica’s client roster includes The World Games 2021 Birmingham, Orangetheory Fitness and the BBVA Compass Iron City Showdown, an NBA exhibition game hosted by Birmingham. Her deep background and practical experience in media relations, media operations, digital media, brand strategy and crisis management provide a comprehensive, strategy-driven approach that engages consumers, initiates action and delivers results for her clients.
Prior to joining Markstein, Jessica spent eight years at Peach Bowl Inc., where she served as director of communications and integrated marketing, managing media relations, media operations, digital media, print production and execution of the overall media, marketing and brand strategies for the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game, Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Challenge charity golf tournament and The Dodd Trophy.
Jessica also has experience in higher education, tourism and hospitality, having previously served as the assistant director of communications and marketing at James Madison University; public relations specialist at the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau; and communications assistant for the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl and Atlanta Sports Council.
A 2004 graduate of James Madison University, Jessica holds a B.S. in communications studies, with a concentration in public relations and a minor in writing.
