Sheila Gruber McLean has extensive experience in social purpose, sustainability, issues management, public affairs, media, corporate reputation and advocacy for clients including UPS, the James Beard Foundation, the National Safety Council, Battelle, the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, P&G and GM.
Prior to joining Markstein, Sheila spent 17 years with MSL, serving as the North America Social Purpose and Sustainability practice director and as managing director of the Detroit office. She created integrated campaigns to drive behavior change, advance business and policy goals and deliver social impact for clients including The Allstate Foundation, American Public Power Association, RB and Nestlé.
Prior to joining MSL, Sheila led Safety and Environmental Affairs at Chrysler Corp. where she developed and launched an industry-leading child safety program. She also served as a communications officer for the C.S. Mott Foundation and a senior policy and external affairs advisor to Michigan Gov. John Engler.
Sheila started her career as a reporter, earning numerous awards at the Detroit News. Her work has repeatedly earned top honors from the Public Relations Society of America, Holmes Report, PR Week, PR News and the International Association of Business Communicators.
Sheila holds her bachelor’s degree in journalism from Central Michigan University.
