Manager, Communications and Public Affairs

The Markstein manager is a professional with 3 to 5 years of experience, dedicated to working with a collaborative team to achieve client goals. The manager of communications and public affairs has distinguished themselves through the excellence of their work and the creativeness of their ideas. They are self-starters comfortable working with a team within a multi-faceted and fast-paced environment. They possess a strong understanding of integrated communications strategies. The manager will have experience working with both B2B and B2C companies, non-profits and civic organizations, and / or coalitions. Agency experience is a plus.

  • Develop comprehensive communications strategies based on clients’ unique goals and objectives
  • Proactively develop relationships with external audiences (community and opinion leaders, media, third-party constituencies, influencers, etc.)
  • Help oversee the development of media assets and work with targeted media contacts on story development while managing media inquiries
  • Write and distribute communications materials including news releases, backgrounders, fact sheets, bios, newsletters and prepared remarks
  • Monitor clients’ areas of focus and target audiences to maintain a current knowledge base
  • Identify and secure executive positioning opportunities
  • Organize, manage and, if needed, represent client at events
  • Actively cultivate client relationships and seek to grow current accounts
  • Assist in the research and preparation for new business pitches
  • Compile and analyze research data
  • Monitor and report on client media coverage
