Media Planner/Buyer

Markstein seeks a professional with 3 to 5 years of digital and traditional media planning/buying experience. The candidate must be a self-starter who is comfortable working on a team within a multi-faceted and fast-paced environment, and possesses an understanding of the role of paid media tactics within larger, integrated communications strategies. Our ideal candidate will have experience building and growing a brand presence for B2B and B2C companies and will have worked in a communications or marketing capacity. Agency experience is required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, advertising, marketing, business administration, communications or similar area
  • Experience with integrated communications and a proven track record in developing digital advertising strategies within the context of a larger communications strategy
  • Proven experience with strategic digital outreach for blogs, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, mobile apps, etc. and search engine optimization (SEO)
  • Ability to discern strong, effective marketing copy from mediocre
  • Knowledge of media planning and buying, ad trafficking, ad serving, SEM and media reporting against digital media campaigns
  • Understanding of how to create an appropriate digital media mix based on identified target audience
  • Proficient in the use of Google Analytics, Google Ads and other standard online media research and planning tools, certifications a plus
  • Working knowledge of DSPs, Facebook Ad Exchange, Search Retargeting and CPA campaigns
  • Experience reviewing media packages and preparing POVs
  • Experience with traditional mediums such as television, radio, print and outdoor a plus
  • Experience in data analysis and demonstrating success
  • Exhibits exceptional organization and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated abilities in optimization, analytics and measurement
  • Strong oral communications skills

  • Plan and execute digital & traditional outreach strategies within the context of a larger communications strategy
  • Collaborate with account managers and clients to create comprehensive media plans
  • Plan, develop, present and execute digital media campaigns in multiple channels such as: display, PPC, social media, native, CPM/CPC/CPA/CPV and mobile
  • Provide necessary support in the execution, trafficking, managing and optimization of all media campaigns
  • Actively manage digital campaigns by optimizing bidding, and performance to ensure KPI delivery
  • Monitor media for pacing, delivery, placement, and flight date discrepancies and negotiates credit or billing adjustments when necessary
  • Research and record trends, innovations, and changes that affect media buying
  • Responsible for the preparation of insertion orders and placement of advertising with media vehicle, as applicable
  • Implement test initiatives such as landing page/email marketing, A/B testing, multivariate testing, offer testing, as needed
  • Counsel clients on establishing and maintaining digital outreach programs and infrastructure
  • Proactively develop relationships with external audiences (media, third party constituencies,
  • etc.) to convey the client’s message
  • Compile and analyze research data
  • Assist in the research and preparation for new business pitches
