Building (it) Together

Developing a community engagement strategy

About The Project

Multiple community organizations and institutions across greater Birmingham partnered to conduct a groundbreaking study on the future of the region’s economy and workforce The initiative needed to promote collaboration and workforce development within the tech sector while engaging both employers and talent.

Markstein built a brand — building (it) together – for the research report, as well as campaign assets, launched and managed social media channels, authored blogs, and coordinated events and media outreach.

In the first six weeks of the campaign, Markstein secured about 50 earned media hits. Through community presentations, the partners shared the report with over 1,000 residents across the region, sparking additional media coverage. The City of Birmingham incorporated the study findings into its strategic plan, and the Birmingham Business Alliance established a team to support a multi-year commitment to the building (it) together public engagement strategy.
